(Amphi, Modiin) What started out on the schedule as a Gezer home game, and almost ended up a disaster (2 games at once; almost no field equipment; the shortstop was situated between the left fielder and the other game's right fielder), ended up as a historic day for Gezer.

First off - the game highlights, the ones not involving the record books:. Ealley Chorev pitched 4 hitless innings, striking out 12 and walking only 1. He only faced 13 batters, therefore getting every out by strikeout. Amichai Boltax picked up his first 2 hits of the season, scoring twice and driving in 2 runs. Avichai Schiffmiller went 3-3 with a solo HR. Avi Paley reached base 3 times, including a 2-run triple.

Now the historical stuff: Gezer scored 16 runs, the most they had scored in a game since May 2011 against Rehovot (won 16-9 that game). This was their biggest win in years, and biggest shutout win in years (largest last year: 13-0 vs Modiin). Their 15 hits, and 7 extra-base hits, were the most in the past few years (unable to quote when the last time was)

Individual history: Avinatan Namer hit 3 triples, breaking the known record shared by Roi Davidovic (May 2006) and Boaz Milgram (March 2010). Ironically, all 3 of these games have been played at the Amphi.

Next week - Tel Aviv. Can Gezer continue with its momentum?
