Avi Paley pitched 3 good innings and Avichai Schiffmiller reached and scored twice to lead Gezer to a 4-2 win over the Rehovot Raptors in the opening game of the 2013 Chanukah Tournament at the Baptist Village.

4 walks out of the first 5 batters helped Gezer take a 1-0 lead, then an RBI groundout by Shalev Gazit made it 2-0, and a fly ball single by Paley increased the lead to 3-0.

A double and 2 walks, 2 of which scored on a wild pitch and a 1st-and-3rd double steal, lead to 2 Rehovot runs in the 3rd, before Paley struck out the next 2 batters to preserve the lead. Ealley Chorev pitched a scoreless 4th to earn the save.

Gezer's next game is the 3rd of the day, against Modiin. The next game at this site will be Rehovot versus Modiin. Will the +2 margin of victory help in the long run? Time will tell.
