Gezer Bats

12/18/2014 - Chanukah Tournament Tomorrow

Zehu. After 13 weeks of practices, a softball-beginners Succot tournament, and most of the last month on the basketball court - tomorrow will be the first test for the players. They play old teammates in Yad Binyamin, and a new-ish Modiin team.

"Win or lose - as long as you play hard, as long as you give your best - you will come out winners." Whether this be a quote of a famous coach or just made up on the go, the words hold true.

Avichai Schiffmiller. Itamar Milgram. Those 2 are the only players with previous experience, only Schiffmiller with Juvenile experience.

The rest: Shahar Gorin and Roi Hakim made the first open day. Gilad Novak came on the 2nd open day. Elyakim Sharizan came to the last open day, just before the season; so did Eli Malul and both proved themselves. Netanel Leichner joined in mid-September, Dor Bauch is the newest player - 4 weeks into his baseball-playing career.

The Gezer Bats 9 will try their best tomorrow, and in the months to come. Time will only tell if they reach high places in the league standings, but they have already shown, above and beyond, that they belong with the other teams, those teams with many more years of experience than them.

Good luck tomorrow! Happy Chanukah!
